QMC Privacy Policy
Quote My Car (Pty) Ltd ("QMC") Version: 1.1.0 Effective Date: 08/03/2026
1. Introduction
QMC operates a digital vehicle marketplace that supports:
- public vehicle uploads for dealer quote offers; and
- public vehicle uploads for dealer auction participation at a seller target price.
This Privacy Policy explains how QMC collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information in accordance with POPIA.

3. Information We Collect
3.1 Public Uploaders / Sellers (Account or Non-Account)
- Name and contact details
- Vehicle details (make, model, VIN, mileage, condition)
- Vehicle photos, videos, and supporting documents
- Location/suburb information
- Ownership and verification documents (where required)
- Communication records
3.2 Dealers
- Business and registration details
- Dealer representative details
- KYC/FICA records where required
- Quote, bidding, and auction activity
- Billing, subscription, and payment records, including waiver status where relevant
3.3 Technical and Usage Data
- IP address and device/browser metadata
- Access logs and session records
- Cookies and tracking identifiers
- Security and anti-fraud signals
4. Why We Process Information
QMC processes personal information to:
- Receive and assess vehicle uploads
- Obtain and present dealer quotes to sellers
- Facilitate dealer auctions at seller target prices
- Verify users and prevent fraud
- Administer success fees, listing fees, subscription fees, and settlement flows
- Release seller/dealer contact details when contractual payment and compliance conditions are met
- Handle disputes, support, and legal compliance
- Improve platform reliability, safety, and performance
5. Legal Bases (POPIA)
QMC relies on:
- Consent
- Contractual necessity / service fulfilment
- Legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, platform integrity)
- Compliance with legal obligations
6. Sharing of Information
QMC may share information with:
- verified dealers to facilitate quotes and auctions;
- sellers and matched dealers to finalize transactions;
- service providers (hosting, communication, payment processing, verification, security);
- regulators or law enforcement where legally required.
Seller contact details are generally released to the accepted dealer after required success-fee/payment conditions are met, except where law requires otherwise.
QMC does not sell personal information.
7. Retention
QMC retains information only as long as necessary for operational, legal, and compliance purposes. Typical periods may include:
- transaction and auction records: up to 5 years;
- account/commercial records: duration of relationship plus a reasonable retention period;
- security and technical logs: typically 12-36 months;
- compliance documents: as required by law.
8. Security
QMC applies reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encryption, access controls, monitoring, and audit logging.
9. Your Rights
Subject to POPIA, you may request access, correction, deletion (where lawful), objection/restriction, and complaint escalation.
